Moon Over Minneapolis
Photography is a lifelong passion for me. It gives me new perspectives on the world around me, and allows me to chronicle moments in time. It’s what I love to do.
While I enjoy photographing anything interesting, I am especially fascinated in rediscovering the world immediately around me. I grew up in the Twin Cities area and have lived in Minnesota for most of my life (it’s grey duck!). I feel fortunate to live here: close to incredible arts, architecture, professional sports and city life, but still within reach of beautiful lakes, wildlife and nature. It’s this world near to me that comprises much of what I photograph.
I started using my camera to preserve and capture some of the places and moments that are special about Minnesota, as well as discovering new ones. In the process I’ve gained amazing new perspectives on things close to me but often overlooked or taken for granted. I try to capture what it is about a subject that fascinates me, so I can preserve and share it through photography.

Abstract Native Grasses in Rice Creek (24×36 Gallery Wrap Canvas)
Abstract photo taken at the Rice Creek Park Preserve in Shoreview, Minnesota. Taken during the last light of the day, intentional camera movement was used to soften the scene and give it a more abstract feel. I loved the warm light on the plant from the low angle of the sun in the sky.
Professionally printed, my gallery-wrapped canvases are printed on on 408gram 18mil canvas, stretched, and ready to hang. This is a beautiful canvas with just the right amount of sheen. Clear-coated with satin varnish to show the image perfectly. 100% archival inks are used with a 12 color process for perfect color. These prints are made to last beyond 100 years with high quality pigment inks and a museum varnish.

Duluth North Pier Light 11×14 (White Mat)
Located in Canal Park in Duluth, Minnesota, this lighthouse was added to the Duluth Ship Canal in 1909 and completed in 1910 to aid in the difficult approach ships had to get into the canal. Printed on an 8×10 luster paper and matted in an 11×14 acid-free white mat.

Fairchild the State Fair Mascot – 11×14 (White Mat)
Fairchild, the iconic gopher mascot of the Minnesota State Fair, prepares to throw a little sunshine. With his striped jacket and jaunty straw hat, Fairchild has represented the Minnesota State Fair since 1966.

First Avenue Building 11×14 (Black Mat)
The iconic First Avenue building in Minneapolis, Minnesota as made famous by Minnesota legend, Prince. Originally shot with a special purple film and a vintage 35mm camera. Printed on a metallic 8×10 luster paper and matted in an 11×14 acid-free black mat.

First National Bank Building 11×14 (White Mat)
The First National Bank building is probably most known for the large neon red “1st” sign atop the building. The sign has three sides and rises four stories to a height of fifty feet. If the St. Paul skyline were to have a “crown jewel” this would be it. In 2016 the sign was relit with color-changing LED lights. On a clear day it can be seen for almost 20 miles. The streaks in the sky are from passing clouds, as this was a long-exposure photograph (30 seconds). Taken May 2020. Matted and ready to fit in an 11×14 frame.

Though not an official name, this little island is nicknamed “The Tombolo”, meaning “island connected to land”, despite the fact it has not been connected to the shore for some time.
